new home
So, I’ve pretty much moved into my new digs. I’ll give you a hint … I USED to blog at this website a looong time ago. If you know my last name, you can find the site.
If you STILL can’t find it, send me an email.

I took the kids to see “Speed Racer” last night. The movie, not the person.
My daughter’s review: meh. (Keep in mind, she was with her friend and they were pretty determined right off the bat to not like it … but still, probably not made for tween girls.)
My son’s review: *thumbs up* (The movie is over 2 hours and managed to keep his attention the entire time … he laughed and sat slack-jawed a lot during the movie)
My review: WOW. I thought they did a brilliant job with it. It had the feel of the cartoon without being super-cheesy. It had action, special effects (boy-howdy, did they!), great acting, great writing. It really was a great adaptation of the cartoon. They were very faithful to the idea, but didn’t let that hold them back from telling a great story.
I wouldn’t hesitate to go see this movie again. I’m certainly going to buy it on blu-ray. I don’t know that you’d want to bring your daughters, but wives would probably enjoy it (my wife stayed home with some well earned peace and quiet).
Out sick today. Migraine or sinus headache or something this morning. Slept. Better about lunch.
Then we got our delivery of gravel for our backyard. I was going to wait until this weekend to even touch it, but it’s supposed to rain Friday and Sunday. Ugh. So I moved 35 wheelbarrow loads of gravel tonight. Plus put the wood border up around the outside of the patio. Oy vey, I’m sore.
So, that’s it … that’s all there is from me. For now.
This weekend went WAY too fast.
Yesterday morning I had a touch of some bug. Just felt icky. The wife made me go back to sleep and I slept … and slept … and slept. Didn’t wake up until after lunch. Wowza. While I slept, she did ALL the yardwork. What a woman!
Then our daughter had a sleepover birthday party to go to and we dumped our son off at a “Parent’s Night Out” thing at his Tae Kwon Do place. So we actually had a date! Thankfully I was feeling better. We went to dinner at Texas de Brazil, a Brazilian steak house … one of those where they keep bringing meat around to your table as long as you have the little marker on “green” and they don’t stop until you turn it to “red”. Too. Much. Meat. But very delicious. We then walked around the mall a bit and went to Barnes and Noble. Amazing what a treat that is when you don’t have to go straight to the kid’s section.
Today we had sort of a lazy morning. Then cleaned the house and ran some errands. We’re planning on re-doing our backyard, so we wanted to start pricing things. We went to Lowes to look at their garden center where I saw a friend from High School … random. We also stopped by a couple garden centers on the way home to look at plants.
Now we’re just waiting for dinner to finish before we eat and send the kids off to bed early (they both had late nights last night). After which, the wife and I will sit downstairs and watch some TV and just lounge around. Yay.
Let me preface this video with, “I really am working … honestly.” I’m setting up a server and copying code and testing stuff. Which leaves time to listen to/watch podcasts. One of the podcasts I subscribe to is “best of youtube”. Which is where I found this.
Also, this is really only funny if you know cats at all … ok, maybe even if you don’t, it’s a little funny.
Happy Friday!
Sometimes you’re just in the mood to rock out with your … um … SOCK out. w00t!
My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade
Seriously … enough already.Either Obama or Clinton need to step down. It’s the right thing to do.
They’re both spending record amounts of money, and they’re going to tap out their resources too early. November is a loooong ways away. Given the state of the economy, people aren’t going to dig too deep into their pockets to give MORE money so the Democratic candidate can then try to beat the Republican candidate (who’s already been decided and is already raising money for the ACTUAL campaign).
On the other hand, given the state of the economy, people might not be too keen to vote for ANOTHER republican. I’m just sayin’.
Man oh man I wish Ron Paul had won the Republican Primary. *sigh*
